Question Amp and Audio problem!

Had a problem with my system after having jump started it. Got a repair guy to look for it and he didn't even charge me which was great turns out it was my amp that was no good. What other amps from any other bmw work On my 01 bmw x5 4.4i hifi dsp ? I want to know any year and series so I can get it and replace mine because it's no good. Any and all replies would be greatly appreciated!!

I believe the 2001-2003 E39 amp works in the X5. Others may also (E38, 97-00 E39) but BMW changed certain harness connectors in 2001 so check to be sure. E-bay has a good selection of DSP amps right now.

You should try to get an X5 amp as you'll have to have the others recoded. They are tuned to the interior size and the X5 is a lot different from an E39 interior, unless it's an E39 touring.

True, but any dealer or competent indie with DIS should be able to do that. The part numbers are the same for all the post-2001 cars.
