BSW Subwoofer

Evening All,

I was wondering if anyone has the BSW stealthbox installed in their X5. I just got done installing my repaired MID and AUX cable into the car and really want to add some more bass into the mix. I'm a big fan of the stealth look and BSW products. I have their stealth box system for my E36 as well. I don't want to just put a box in there because I would like my X5 to still be practical. I was wondering if anyone has it installed on their X5 and can provide some feedback. For the record i did search and found a lot of older threads that I didn't gather much from.

Thanks

Do you have the stock SW enclosure? If so, there are a couple threads in the audio section where people used the stock enclosure and mounted a 10" shallow depth SW in there.

Me, I mounted 2 JL 6" subs (yes, they make them that small) in the box. It took some nibbling with the tin snips to get everything to fit, but they fit and they work great. Not 20hz great, but they play every note in London Grammar's "hey now" with no problems, all run off the stock DSP amp.

I dId it little diferent from everyone else I have 2 10 in woofers in the back. I have 1 on the rear right side like everyone else does and then I mirrored or 180 the box design and put another box on the rear lefT side. By doing this I have saved my bmw factory amp from getting wet and damaged multiple times. I don't have nav but I'm going to retrofit sooner or later this year and mount the unit somewhere else.
Search elemental designs I used 2 of there boxes. But search zerochief he was the one who started the subwoofer design thread and allstar but he is no longer selling them.stealth sub boxes

Where did you mount your amp? I'm going to keep the stock head unit in place, Non-Nav, Non-DSP, BMW Business CD. I just searched them and apparently they are out of business and no longer sell their boxes. I believe I saw a post with zerochief and remember that he stopped selling them as well.

Sorry for replying so late been busy and I was trying to find a posted pic but couldn't.
My sub amp is mounted directly underneath spare tire. Toward the front portion so part of the wheel touches it but it still fits the tire in succesfully and I have the floor that pulls out on rails. My setup is stock amp to the left rear side touching my box on the left side. Then. My bluetooth in that area where the bsw guide says to put there sub amp. Ill try and get some pics for you.

You're fine, I think I might just end up going with the BSW set up. It is cheaper than going with anything else including the JL. I found the JL box for abour $520.00, getting a quality amp and hardware to run everything would put me above the cost of the BSW for something that apparently performs just as well. I don't want anything to boomy so I feel like two 10s would be a little excessive.

boomy = ported box. Sealed box is sound quality very tight bass. reproduces the bass note very accurately. But good luck with the BSW i hear that 8 is in the right size box so it should sound very clean. I been wanting to change out my tweeters for the BSW set for a while now.

Awesome. And yea I had two 10s in a ported box in my E36 for a while and it was a little boomy at times but proper tuning made it a lot more precise sounding. Seeing how the X5 doesn't have an isolated trunk I figured I wouldn't need something as powerful to yield the desired result.
