Bumper Kit Question

By the way, Im asking this for Umm, Uh, Michelle, yeah thats it...

Anyway, Im taking a plunge and getting me a 4.6 front and rear bumper for my 3.0. I just got off the phone with my stlr, and he started with the questions... I guess I should just list them..

1. Does it matter if my X is facelifted with regards to the front bumper?

2. Do I HAVE to have headlight washers installed with the new bumper, if I dont have them now?

3. The rear he says comes in pieces. He mentioned a "bottom spoiler". Is that all I need? I already have a bumper obviously, do I need a complete new one?

Basically, what parts do I need to complete this task?

Thanks for any help...I really need to get SOMETHING after losing 3 sets of 132's on ebay....

First off, today's toon is dedicated to you, check out the lounge

1. Yes, the spoiler is different on the 4.6 when compared to the 4.8. Here is the LINK with the information you need.
2. No.You aren't installing a "new bumper" at least on the pre-facelifted model. The spoilers are actually glued on to the existing bumpers.
3. No you don't need a new bumper. You need the rear spoiler, and an end cap for each end of the spoiler, total = 3 pieces for the back.

Yes, I just took a look at that...Um, Thank you......for...that..

RIght now, with respect to my dilemma, what do I need with a FACELIFTED X? Can I still use the 4.6 kit, or am I limited to only the 4.8 kit?

Yours is a facelift model, so you need a new front bumper (a 4.8 bumper). The rear spoilers are identical between 4.6 and 4.8 kit. Basically, get the 4.8 kit.

- And with regards to your question about the headlight washers, the 4.8 bumpers come pre-cut for the headlight washers and two things you can do...
- patch up the hole or
- retrofit a headlight washer system on your X.

No problem! I need all the clarification I can get! I WANT a 4.6 kit. My question is, is that not possible because I have a facelifted X? Or is my only option to get a 4.8 kit? No big deal, I dont really mind which one, I just prefer the 4.6 a little more.

And also, of course, I only had this revelation AFTER I scheduled to have an aftermarket PDC system installed (tomorrow). It seems in either case, I will keep my old rear bumper, all I have to do is add the spoiler. Yes, No?.....Bueller....Bueller?

With the facelift, you need the whole 4.8 front bumper. In the back, you can keep your existing bumper, add the spoiler and two end caps.

Yeah it kinda sucks with the facelifted X's. Not only does the whole 4.8is bumper costs more then the underbumper of the 4.6is. It means more pieces need to be painted, which equals to more money. And it also takes more time, the 4.6is underbumper you can just glue on, but the 4.8is, you have to remove the whole facelifted bumper.

Although the underbumpers of both the prefacelift and facelifted X's look similar, it has been said the 4.6is underbumper wont fit under the facelifted ones. I hope this doesn't confuse you... Sorry if it does.

No confusion..Well, not much... This is actually what my stlr told me, I ust wanted to hear it from someone here...The 4.8 kit it is then..I will call for a quote right now...On another note, is the largest part more than 70" in length do you know? I would LOVE to order it from the US, but again I think after taking shipping into consideration, it would be worth it to buy here....Thanks!
