On the same topic of releasing bottled-up horsies - how flexible of a platform is the N62 without force-feeding it?

I've found very little on tuning - most everything I've found jumps immediately to supercharging.

most Bimmer engines are pretty much tapped out from Natural Aspiration intake.
Super/Turbo is only real way to increase ponies and torques. gets expensive tho and could make a reliable vehicle unreliable

Yea depending how hard you're going to push it especially a turbo you have to upgrade some things when you start pushing PSI to the limits. An absolute mod right off the bat even staying stock you need new injectors, from there on can really start denting the wallet as if the turbo wouldn't be enough to dent it lol
Things like o-rings, rods, cams , valves etc and so on.. In the same token even staying stock will put stress on all those things and more and cooling becomes a concern as well not just for the engine but the turbo itself.

so my question is, can some software be upgraded so our N62B44 engines can perform the same as the e63 645Ci counterpart??

Itll feel more powerful for the main reason of, the car weights less then the x5.

Another reason is the engine is tuned different then for the X, as for the X it needs more torque down low to get it going faster then the 645 or gearing ratios too.

645 also is RWD only and not awd, may have a difference in how power delivery feels.

Theres some things you can do that will make the motor feel more powerful and responsive. i have the n62 4.8 but 4.4 is same thing with less displacement and power.

Emory39, you can pull fuse #46 from a facelifted e53 to make it red only (but you loose traction/abs as well as the awd).
