wireless backup camera help

I just bought an aftermarket touchscreen navigation DVD head unit and also purchased a wireless backup camera setup to go with it. I wanted to avoid running wired even though a hard wired one would probably work better.

I have a couple questions before I go ahead and install it. I want to be able to control the back up camera by a an on/off main switch. Can I splice the backup camera wire behind the unit and install somewhere in the driver side area? Also I heard with the aftermarket units sometimes the obc controls stop working, I don't really care so much about getting gas mileage info and things like that, my concern is that if ever the x5 needed diagnosing by some mechanic throughout the obc, is that going to be a problem?
