4.8is....Muffler Delete....Anyone?

I have searched, but the most common exhaust mod here is resonator delete with x pipe (or h pipe). I have an e39 M5 with a muffler delete (which is more popular) and I love the sound. It's loud when you get on it, but pretty tame in just normal driving conditions. It even passes the wife test who is very "sensitive" to those things.

I did find one thread where someone did it on a 4.4 with a video and one with a 4.6is, but that video was dead. Would it sound close to the same as my M5 or would it be much different?

I have muffler delete on mine and I love it , don't know if the e53 would sound the same since the e70 came with factory H pipe , but just like you mention loud when u want it to be .

I've been thinking of this, but have to wait and see.... The boys at ESS are just about to release an SC kit for the 4.8is so if I go for that I will need to rethink the whole exhaust system from headers back.

Thanks for the video. I have been listening to several videos on youtube with the resonator delete/x pipe. It does sound good, but still am curious how the muffler delete would sound.

I actually listened to your videos when I was searching for the muffler delete. It sounded really good. Like I said, I absolutely love the sound on my e39 M5, I'm just curious if it would be similar sound on the X5 are completely different.

M5 has a diff motor and higher rev. Tuned for more hp and top of redline.

4.8 motor is tuned with alot of torque in mind for our truck. I have both deleted with an X pipe and it sounds mean.

This is after the motor has cooled off alot, so dont mind the pop as it can only be done for a short while and if you know how to do it.

That sound is ridiculous. lol. I think that might be a little too much. How loud is it cruising down the highway? Did you do it in steps? Did you delete the resonator first or the muffler (or both)? I wonder how much quieter it would be with the resonator in place.

I love your X btw, very tasteful mods.
