Not starting as fast as usual..

We have an 06 3.0 65,000 mile X5, the past few days it seems to be requiring more "cranking" before it starts, seems to run fine, but it did stall one time a few days ago...just stopped running at a light.??

Battery is about 2 years old, it spins fast, I doubt it's the battery
As far as a full service, what are you thinking is wrong?

Hard to start (long cranking) and stalling can be signs of a failing inlet cam sensor. They can also be signs of many other things though. Are there any stored fault codes?

The fuel filter has a built in regulator, sometime hard start can be attributed to a failing fuel regulator. When was the fuel filter replaced?

Unnmmm, fuel filter replaced...never?
Maybe a possibility, would that show up as a fault code?

Nope. It's a maintenance item.

You can connect a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail and note the key on start up pressure and the engine running pressure. They should be with in the spec, if not you need to check why it is out of spec, most likely candidate the fuel filter.

The other item is the fuel pressure regulator. The diaphragm could be torn and would cause to the engine to be harder to start. A quick test will be to remove the vacuum line from the regulator and note if you smell gas or if gas is present in the vacuum line.

Well, it died a block from the house.....luckily I was driving and not my wife..coasted over to the side..the dash lit up...fail safe mode...but it would on start
Off to the shop by Flatbed....I'll know more tomorrow.
I swear cars know...I had spent the past few days cleaning the s**t out of it ready to sell, some people came to look on Saturday, and now it says.....FU to me, I'll fix you !!
BUT it will still be for sale after it's fixed...
Moving up to a 2011 or 12....
