Check fog lamps HID kit

Hey i just installed an HID kit to my fogs, and i get the "check fog lamp" message even though they fire up fine. Is there a specific kit i can get that will stop this message or do i have to get capacitors in series with the current kit.

You need error cancellers:

Use the coupon code "TRS/HIDP" for free shipping.

If you have reflector fog lights (2003-2006) models, you need the one with an H11 connection. It gets plugged inline between the ballast and the plug from the car.

If you have 00-02 models or have retrofitted the projector fogs to the later models, you will need to solder on a different connector as the factory fitting on the 00-02's is a BMW connector.

I highly don't recommend HID in a reflector fog light housing as wellbut if thats the way you want to go then so be it, I can't preach on my soap box.

You have reflectors which is the years I specified.

Projector housings came stock on 00-02 models, they have little projectors which have the lens that looks like your low beam. A sharp, focused beam and cutoff, which is why you see xenon lights in projectors, so there isn't excessive glare.

Throwing hid in reflector housings whether it's fog lamps or low beams is not the best for light output and glaring to oncoming drivers.

If you look close at my fogs you will see they are different looking because of the projector lens.

If you want the parts list to do the retrofit of the projector fogs on your car it will cost you $200 for the oem housings, then the cost of an hid kit if you want to put xenon in them. You will need an H3 kit for the projector fogs as they take an H3 bulb.

There is a popular thread which I believe is in the "tips and tricks" where we outline it all. A quick google search for "projector fogs x5" on google should bring it up

here is a visual for the reflector (shorter one) and ellipsoid/projector (longer one). both will fit in existing openings and snap right in, the only thing in 4.8is (and possibly the 4.4 facelift), an airduct on the right of the car (LHD) may get in the way of the longer fog light.
