Rear trunk wont open from the back?

Hey guys, I have this small problem with the rear trunk on the x5, the trunk opens with the remote but does not open from the back button on the trunk it self, this has just happened today.

What could be the problem? the button no good or perhaps a fuse any help

More likely the button is no good. I had to replace it on my old 3.0i
I would find out and check the fuse first.

Most likely the micro switch has corroded away the electrical contacts. Happen on mine. You can just buy the microswitch and replace if you are DIY. Remember to buy a new gasket between the switch housing and the back trunk so that it will prevent the ingress of water.

Hey guys, so another update... when the x5 is turned on the trunk works normal with the button... I tried it like 6 times while the x5 is on and every time the trunk opened I even pressed the button while the trunk is open and it did the sounds as its opening.

I turned off the X5 and opened the driver door the trunk opened by it self I shut the driver door and then the trunked locked/closed it self when its off with door closed the trunk wont open with the button...

is this a program thingy?

Do you happen to know the part number for the new gasket between the switch housing and the back trunk? Thanks.
