Question NEED HELP - 2003 (E53) Upgrade to E70 WideBody Kit

Hello All,

I have 2003 E53 4.4i (25,000 km) the car has been garage kept since purchased and is in like new condition. I live in Brazil and here luxury importated vehicles are very expensive (for instance my 2003 has a retail used selling price of around USD 150,000). Well I am getting ready to do a complete mod to the car to really having something unique and am looking for help from the experienced pro's here on Xpost.

I am wanting to do an upgrade to a E70m "style" Widebody kit (ie: hood, fenders, Ft/R bumpers, mirrors, lights, wipers) and need some help. I have searched and am having a hard time finding out if anyone has successfully pulled this off.

Body Kit: I am thinking of using this kit: PD5X Widebody Aerodynamic-Kit for Bmw X5 E70 | PRIOR DESIGN | Exclusive Aerodynamics

I am open to other suggestions as well if anyone has any on both the body mods and the other mods I am wanting to do.

Also I am considering a supercharger so if anyone has a good bolt on brand (Brazilian Mechanics are not the best in custom mods) to suggest I would appreciate it.

Please Help with any links or tutorials and or any general info on this mod.

Thanks so much in advance.

Andrew, if you are looking for body upgrade for the E53, you should look into Hamman, AC Schnitzer, Hartge body kits designed specifically for the E53... Manufacturing a kit for the E53 from scratch, basing it off an E70 body kits/style might not yield a desirable effect, and, as a matter of fact, may make your car look too funny to be considered a seriously luxury/performance contender on the road (even if the underpinnings are powerful)...

What i am saying is - go with proven looks instead of trying to create your own look... those designers that i mentioned, have whole departments that test the body kits before releasing them to public...

Hey Thanks...Yes is simular, I have heard of people doing upgrades to E53 like this. Is this a E53 that you changed the fenders, Bumper etc?

If so any info you have on the mod would really help... (Part-list, suppliers, etc..)

Thanks again.

Ricky Bobby will become famous soon enough
There was a wide body kit for the E53 available and some had put it on their cars. I don't know if it's still available but to be honest I'm not a fan

Sorry this were some pictures I found online , but I remember reading about this convention. The site is somewhere in romania or something . Look up e53 e70 look and something should come up directing you their site . Good luck

I looked up the website... cuberra.eu because I was curious on how the changed out the tail lights. That has to be some major modification. Funny enough is on the part list they do not list anything about the tail lights or the back quarter panel for it. Honestly I think all they did was take a pic of a E70 and say it will look like this.

"Description: Front bumper, Front fenders, Front spoiler/ Add on lip, Hood, Minor modification is needed, Rear bumper, Rear spoiler/ Add on lip"

Nothing about the tail lights, rear quarter panel, headlights, etc. IMHO it would be cheaper to trade in your E53 for a E70 than to make it look like it - without it looking rigged together with zip ties and bondo.

Gents,

I was budgeting around US$ 5-12 th max. for the Body mod. For me is worth it, since I have had my X5 since 0km and it only has 32th km. (Has been Garage kept since, I only take her out on sunny days!) One big problem we have here in Brasil is that Luxury cars past 3 yrs old loose around 75% of their book value. I paid USD$ about 157th for my X5 in 2003 and I really love this car and do not want to give her up....(So you can understand, I just finally took the factory-plastic off the back seats last august!) I wanted to upgrade it to look simular to Vorsteiner X5M. I remember reading that guys have upgraded the E53 to E70 front ends replacing the fenders, hood, bumper and headlights.

With this said I began thinking, Ïf the E70 fenders etc. fit on the frame of the E53 why could I not put a E70 WB kit on my E53, of course I will need to change the fenders and hood but it seems logical.

Any help is greatly appreciated, I plan on throughly documenting the mod with fotos, parts list, etc. and I will create a tutorial to post as well for future tuners.
