Don't use Mobil 1 0w-40 it shears down way too fast. Use a 5w-40 or my reommendation is Shell Rotella T6

Thoughout the life of this site the story and the conclusion is always the same. Unless there are special circumstances Why not stick to MFGs specs. BMW 5w-30.

right in my manual for the 3.0i ,it says to use 5w40 or 5w30 full synthetic oil.
