2006 X5 3.0 Starting Problems

I accidentally left the lights on a killed the battery while I was in Vegas last week. We tried jumping it with one of those battery packs via the connections under the hood. It wasn't working but we were able to jump it directly from the battery. We got the battery recharged and everything seemed fine. Now for some reason it doesn't always want to start.

What happens is when I turn the key, its not dropping the steering wheel or lighting up all of the lights right before you start it. It wont turn over or anything unless the steering wheel drops and all of the lights are on. I replaced the battery just to make sure that wasn't the issue. It seems as if something got messed up when we tried jumping it. Any ideas on what it might be? Ignition switch? I appreciate any help or insight, thanks!
