A car like that should only be sold on an enthusiast site, only they would appreciate it but I'm gonna say around 16k

No offense but a 8 year old car can't be a 9.9 whichever way you look at it..
Brand new cars are 9.9.. I say 13000$

I paid top of the market last Fall for the stick version, otherwise similar, slightly higher mileage, from a specialty dealer who put 4k+ [retail] into it for sale; I paid 18.5? for it, plus tax, etc. I'm thinking its worth 13-15k; kbb would tell you less. I expect it will sell for 12-13k if its in great shape and you can document service history. FYI, we made a good deal to buy a low mileage 2001 3.0L auto, some repairs done by the seller, for 9.5 in Houston.

4.8is
OK OK, maybe it's a 9.8....but seriously it's really nice, and I'm fussy. I just came back from a 1 3/4 hour ride to look at a 92 911 (964) that the owner claimed was close to mint....as my buddy who looks at cars with me said, that car should come with a BIG piece of cheese....it's a rat.... So, it's all in the eyes of the looker.....

Are you looking for a private sale value or what you think a dealer is gonna give you in trade on a new X?
If the latter, I would expect a dealer to maybe give 8-9 tops

It is indeed "all in the eyes of the looker", but imo, a Dlr won't care much as they will probably wholesale it out, after you gotten beaten up via a trade in. A private party may be enchanted by it's condition, however. ![]() The prices quoted by previous posters are in the ballpark, imo. It is an 8+ year old model X, that may find the 'perfect interested buyer', or it may not. GL w S, mD PS: You regularly mention that you have been a BMWCCA member for decades; I rec'd driving your X to the next cars & coffee/meet and seeing if any other local chapter members are interested. PSS: when it comes to cars, motorcycles, boats, et al, one always tends to have an inflated value of what their stuff is worth, in my experience.

with mD as well, in real estate too, everyone's value perception is about 15-20% higher than true market value. Kbb your 06 3.0 in very good condition with the mileage, and get the private party and trade in values and go from there. In my experience if you get blue book you are doing alright. Dealers will laugh at you if you ask to be appraised at blue book value

I leased a....gasp....2014 GLK for my wife, couldn't beat the deal...( she likes it....as it is primarily her car)...IMHO it aint' an X5, but the lease is about $200 a month less.
I have been toying with the idea of keeping it, but...really..do we need a 2nd SUV? I mostly use the Z3... I am going to try to get $13 for it...so if it sells, OK, if not no biggie for a while.

While prices vary by region, I think you might be low. Take a look at Autotrader.com, Cars.com, and Edmunds.com to see what things are listed at in your area.
For example I found these on Autotrader zip 33301: 2006 4.8is for $22k Cars for Sale: 2006 BMW X5 4.8is in Miami, FL 33154: Sport Utility Details - 369212748 - AutoTrader.com 2006 3.0i w/ salvage title for $15k Cars for Sale: 2006 BMW X5 3.0i in Hollywood, FL 33023: Sport Utility Details - 358938574 - AutoTrader.com 2006 3.0i 65k miles for $14k Cars for Sale: 2006 BMW X5 3.0i w/ Sport Package in Fort Lauderdale, FL 33338: Sport Utility Details - 377481693 - AutoTrader.com
