BMW x5 air suspension to coilovers?
My first thread. My apologies if posted in wrong place or pobably repeated. I have a E56 X5 4.4i. I'm looking for everything that I need to change the air supension to normal spring suspension. I have both front and rear airbags with self leveling and right now the self leveling message popped up. Before wasting money in air suspension, I prefer to waste in changing to coilovers. I've been researching but still have lots of doubts. Is it possible to use aftermarket coils from other BMW or X5 models? If online purchasing, which models or references? I've found kits in internet to make the conversion, but it says not for self leveling models. Is it that these models cannot be converted to traditional suspension? Thanks a lot!!! |

You can use any E53 X5 coilover setup, but you will need to program out the self leveling or you will always have a warning on the dash from what I understand.

Thanks for the answer Joshdub.
I have a 4.4i with self levelling as i said, and from all I've read, the only X5 with coilovers was the 3.0. Do these work in a 4.4? My question might be stupid but I prefer to be sure. Cheers. |
