CD Recognition on Head Unit

Hi

At the moment my boot cd changer shows that there are 6 discs in there and lets me select the disc and track number , but there is no information on what CD It is , what the track is called etc

Do I have to update the software on the system to show this

Thanks in advance

Rob

I think you need to update the player.

Are you playing CDs that you burned yourself...or are these commercially purchased CDs?

And are you under 30? I only ask because you may be used to iPods & MP3 players and may be used to seeing this type of information displayed on audio devices. The X5 uses a CD player that's rather primitive technology at this point (from the 1990s)...and I've owned BMWs since 1985 and can't even consciously or honestly remember if CD track information is even available...only because I'm old enough that I don't even expect to see anything other than CD & track number.

I'm even old enough that I'd gladly give up RDS/PTY radio information for the good old WB (weather band). I couldn't care less to see radio station info scroll across the display...I already know what station I'm listening too because I programmed it into the MID & Nav...and the stations that play music...the DJ usually indicates at some point who the group was...and if they didn't, the song will play again within the hour since 99% of radio stations only play the top 10 or top 20 songs of what ever genre you're listening to (oh how I miss radio DJs from the 60s/70s that could spin what they wanted to showcase to the audience).

(sorry for slipping into "old fogy" mode there at the end)
