x5 got hit yesterday- you won't believe how

I'm curious to hear what you guys estimate the damage will be on this. I've been on the road 8 years now and I take a lot of pride in the fact that I have never been involved in any kind of accident and have no infractions. Long story short I'm driving home yesterday and some deviants though it would be funny to throw a softball sized rock at my car as I'm moving along at 50mph. I had no clue what happened till I pulled over (initially thought it was a bird). When I saw both grills totally gone, a large gouge on my bumper, noticed the hood was severely bent, my fan was destroyed and radiator was leaking from a hit, and there are some small cracks in my windshield, I began to come to the realization that it was a rock.

I went over to have a word with the responsible party. I phoned the police as I was walking over and they were more responsive than I would have thought. They sent a car over. I walked down under the bridge looking for the deviants but couldn't find them and assumed they ran off. So walked back to my car and waited. A minute later a brand new jk jeep pulls up with a busted out windshield, same story (they had been hit at the same time as me and kept driving but then decided to go back). Then a minute later a suburban pulls up with a busted windshield, same story. This guy in the suburban seemed like a dude who would be happy to go below the bridge and find the guys which we know knew were still there but as we started to go the cops showed up. They took reports and immediately and within 30 seconds of their arrival the police helicopter was circling overhead. looking for the hero that decided this was fun.

I was pretty irate at first, there is so much petty crime in the city where I live it drives me nuts (and to the suburbs). I have comprehensive but keep a high premium as I don't get in accidents and it is a motivation for me not to. I'm curious what the dealer is going to estimate this as. It doesn't look like much to the average person but there's a significant amount of monetary damage here.

that really sucks ,I would be pissed, but at the same time what are you suppose to do, I hope it doesn`t cost to much. but my guess, it would cost about 3100.00.
let us know how you made out at the body shop

Sheesh, what a-holes. Glad you didn't get hurt, though.

Turns out it was the ac condenser that got damaged. I forgot that was in front of the radiator there. AT least I can still drive it this way. I'm sure they wont find the shit bags. I got to much going on to worry about some trash with nothing better to do. This is why I have insurance and I expect to make out good on it. I'm just happy that I wasn't injured in anyway.

that sucks sorry about your damage. hopefully you can get it fixed quick.

you might not have to pay your deductible if the person responsible is found.. i know i didnt have to pay a thing when i was damaged in a parking lot and i was able to tell my insurance the license plate of the person that did the damage.

either way glad the damage is not too bad. hopefully you can get her fixed up quick

I have a similar story. I was driving up the street around !am going home in my 02 4.6is when my passengers side window exploded. I look down and there's a potato on the floor. Turns out some kids made a gun out of plumbing pipe, some hairspray and a flint. Creative little bastards. I wasn't too upset as I wasn't the poster child for all goodness as a kid either and just took it as karma.
