Water outlet hose loose in A-pillar?

Hi all! I need your help here!

For about half year, my X has been generating clicking sound from the bottom of A pillar of right side (driver side of RHD) when the car is moving, I already checked everywhere including right side door and the space under the instrument cluster on right side, I also secured everything that was loose or possibly movable, but the clicking sound is still there. One thing is very wierd, after car wash or heavy rain, the clicking sound disappears for a while, which means the clicking sound goes away when the car is wet, but it comes back after drying up. I tried the test if the clicking sound would go away by pull the windshield washer, but it was still there. So my conclusion is that it could be something loose in A pillar and, since the clicking goes away when the car is heavily wet, so I guess it might be the water outlet hose in A pillar is loose.

Now the question is that, according to your experience, is it possible the water outlet hose in A pillar got loose? How can I tighten it up? Thanks for help! The clicking sound makes me crazy and it is really annoying when having fun with my X!!!!

Can you post a recording of the sound? That would help us a lot.

Sounds just like something loose and keep shaking and knocking the car body. The sound is not loud but can be clearly heard when the car is moving. It just comes from the bottom of right side A pillar.

I had the same thing on my left side A pillar. You know what it was?

Hood stops needed adjusting. No sh!t.

It's happened twice since then. Spin the little rubber bits out a turn or so and close the hood. No more clicking sound.

Hope it works for you.

It looks like a spring, but it is just a threaded piece of black rubber. I don't know if the passenger side has one bc I haven't needed it. If it doesnt, adjust the drivers side and see if it helps.

Also, check to be certain your jack pads are on both sides.

I spinned the black plastic stopper and tested driving for a while, it seems solved. I will test it more to see if it is really solved. Thanks a lot!

By the way, why check the jack pad?

That's an old E39 trick. Air would spin up into the hole where the jack pad once was and make all kinds of weird noises in the cabin. It was a long shot, but a lot of these strange noises are... hopefully this fixes your issues.
