I emailed Jeff from J&T, see his quote below. Looks I will order this as soon as (four8.is) confirm the successful install

"Yes, the DSP compatible units are rolling out now. 100% compatibility has yet to be confirmed but we have it working in some "guinea pig" cars.."

Guys, a few more days and ill confirm if it works or not..just heard from Jeff; it'll be shipped Monday and should be at my house on Wednesday.
I'll be the guinea pig for the x5 crowd (did anyone else install it yet?),but if it works you guys better jump on them before they're going on back order

Jeff gets shipments in every few weeks thankfully the supply chain is good (aka it's not an iPhone launch lol). Appreciate you being the guinea pig but again since it's advertised as working with DSP if for some reason I'd look for a refund as that's basically what us dsp guys are buying it for, otherwise we can buy any other unit and get a replacement amp.

I just would prefer to keep my factory stuffs.

Ricky, you are correct, it is advertise for DSP, all that is needed is the cable. I will pull the trigger and make the purchase next week. I will also get the back up camera.

so this extra cable tha tis needed for DSP set-ups... does it not come with the Dyna N6? If not, where could a person source the cable?
I met up with Fmugur this morn and we discussed this and the Avin 2 models... I'm liking the Dyan N6 BUT only if we get the "go ahead" from four.8iS to be honest.

If you switch to the N6 or the Avant 2 do you still need your original NAV stuff? If not, it seems like a lot of guys with the mk4 nav already can significantly offset the cost of the newer unit by selling the widescreen headunit and mk4 dvd unit thing.

Mike, you said you have DSP and non-factory Nav right? If so, you don't need the fakra cable, the N6 should work out of the box with your DSP. No extra wiring.

Fakra harness is only for OEM Nav equipped models

I can help you install it. All you need is the HU which can be Avant2, Dynavin or whatever you decide...
hey Florin,
so after looking at the Avin 2 more, there is a note which makes it less desirable for me since I'd have to replace my DSP amp.

"Note: The AA-B5X5 is not currently compatible with BMW equipped with DSP. If your BMW has DSP it would need to be replaced by an aftermarket amp for the install to work."

where as the rumor has it that the N6 is fully DSP compatible and I do not need to replace any parts
but again, like I said today, I'll wait to see reviews.

That's cool guys. It's been a challenge for many companies over the last years.
I am looking forward for your install feedback.
I got my imola with a kenwood HU and went back to the NAV bordmonitor. If this works well I might consider installing one.
RB, thanks for highlighting the N6 here. It looks like they don't advertise that the unit works with DSP because they had some challenges and it seems to be still in 'beta testing'.
