Bridgestone Deuler HP RFT vs. Continental DWS

I just purchased a 05 4.8is about a month ago, and the previous owner had just replaced the rear tires with Continental DWS. The fronts are Michelins but are badly worn and need to be replaced asap. I was just going to put new Continental DWS's on, seems to be a popular tire on here, but a friend of mine has a set of Bridgestone Deuler HP RFT's that has over 80% tread life and he would sell them to me for $600. Since my rears are in such good shape I figured I could sell them and come out ahead. But my real question is which tire has better grip/performance? I know the Bridgestone's are a summer tire and the Continental's are all season. I live in Tennessee and we almost never see snow, and I have a company truck as a backup just in case we get bad weather (08 Tundra 4x4). Previously I have had 4 M cars (3 e46 M3's and 1 e39 M5), and I will be getting rid of the M5, so I really want to go with the tire which gives the most performance, but if the RFT's are terrible as some say, I might just stick with the Continentals.

I have the Bridgestone Deuler HP on another SUV and I've had the Continental DWS. The Bridgetone Deuler is more quite and I think a better smother tire.

The Bridgestone Deuler came stock on my 2014 GL

Go to tire rack and check the comparisons.

The DWS's are awesome and perform much better than "Brick-stones" RFT's... IMHO RFT's are very heavy and loud compared to the DWS'. I have RFT's on front and hate them.

If you haven't owned/driven RFTs, I suggest you try them first - and check out the reviews at Tire Rack. Many drivers find the ride hard, loud, you name it. I have had DWS in the std 18" on my X5 for a year and really like them, particularly in winter. They can seem a little soft in hot summer weather, as you experience, and that and an opportunity to get a set of 209 wheels for a great price is the only reason I ended up swapping my DWS out in summer for Cooper hi-perf summer Zeons. By the way - I sold the set of brand-new Bridgestone RFTs mounted on the 209s for $400 on craigslist. I've had RFTs before, no thanks. If I were in your 'shoes,' I'd mount Conti DWS on the front and enjoy them!

I have used the both, my x came with the BD hp rft's got only 8k out of my rears . Currently on my second set if contis DWS . Ride is smoother , they perform great in all weather conditions and first set gave me 18k out if my rears

Nothing beats a summer tire in the summer, and a winter tires in the winter. Winter tires are not just for the snow but are for the cold also. The duelers will probably feel like driving on 4 bricks when it starts to get cold out. The dws will be the better/safer bet

Ive had both sets I like the hp sports much better I bought new rims and the dws was already on there so thats what im driving with now I feel the car handles better with the hp sports rather than the dws. (and the tread is more aggressive looking )

I thought my new car had Haulers on them. I can tell you The Pirelli Scorpion Verde is the best tire so far for an SUV.

I have Hancook All Seasons in the X5 with 19 stagered. They were the only tire that would fit in an all season. They are just ok.

The Pereli's on the GL you cant even hear them and this is my 3rd GL.

Hmmm, a few conflicting reviews here, but I did go on Tire Rack, there was not much feedback, but the only thing that I came away with is the RFT's can be loud after they start wearing down. I am just wondering if I would be able to tell a difference in performance between these two tires.

I think performance wise, they are about the same. Taking corners on country roads (Yeah baby moments!) the Brickstones hold their own.
