My X5 is stalking my wallet!!!!!!!!!!

First the coolant reservoir was leaking and I got a replacement under warranty. Just when I was planning to replace it today, I got a low coolant warning. Looked under the engine and coolant just leaking heavily and not from the coolant reservoir. Looks like the water pump is now leaking heavily. This car is truly after my wallet

I surrendered my wallet to my cars long ago. I suggest you do the same. After awhile it doesn't even hurt anymore.

Seriously though, that sucks. You aren't referring to that drop in the picture are you? That looks awfully clear for coolant.

Ricky Bobby will become famous soon enough
If it's a 3.0 the cooling overhaul is not too bad price wise. At the age and mileage of these cars they were all due at least once at this point

Yes, that drop. It's clear since I've been topping up the reservoir leak with distilled water. The new leak is continuous and only happens when the engine is running. This car is now grounded. Is this leak really from the water pump or could it be the dreaded N62 coolant pipe leak??????

My wife says our fleet of BMWs all have "Spare Cash Sensors". Something always comes up when we're in the black.

Good line. Same seems to happen with our fleet of bimmers.

Ok, I've identified the coolant leak as coming through the weep hole in the timing cover......and I've got a sinking feeling in the pit of me wallet! I used cooling system pressure tester from harbor freight at 16 psi and coolant was just streaming from that weep hole. So the possibilities here are coolant pipe, valley pan or water pump? I think I should just get ready to do all three plus the timing covers as well which are also leaking and just be done with those bloody leaks. I probably should consider those collapsible coolant pipe instead of installing OEM coolant pipe that would leak again albeit after years from now? Just considering my options out aloud.
