E53 3.0 manual 01' wont start.....

Replaced battery twice in the past month, replaced starter yesterday....

I get intermittent starts, but mostly just get one click from the starter (same issue with old starter and new starter)...

I can jump the car rolling down a hill with ignition on..

If hookup a jumper pack that has decent juice it will likley start... but its intermitten with just the battery, on a fresh charge...

Anyone have any ideas...

I had an Audi that wouldn't start, turn out to be the signal wire to the starter solenoid. You will need to determine if the signal wire is providing a voltage signal to the solenoid to energize the starter.

Could also be a bad ignition switch.

Time for a proper diagnosis instead of throwing parts at it.

Starter motor draw? Cables? Connections? Solenoid? Ignition switch?

If the ignition switch was going, would I get a click from the starter?

The start is controlled by the EWS and DME system. If the EWS doesn't receive the correct key code it will not enable the DME to start the engine.

I found sometimes the clutch sensor goes bad, and bst could be faulty (unlikely because then i would have zero power)...

So i tried starting it with the clutch out a couple of times, didn't give me the click sound, then i went and started pushing the bst terminal in to see if it was triggered, after that figured i would try to it again, it started up on the battery's own power...

So at this point im stumped, is there a faulty bst to where its not getting a solid connection?

Would explain why sometimes if i jumped it from the front terminals it would start....

The issue im having though is that when i get the no start/clicking sound, I would try starting it with the lights on to see if they would dim a bit, nothing, they would stay steady, so if there was a lose connection and i wasn't getting full power, wouldn't there be a dimming of the lights?...

Once or if the problem replicates, first thing, check voltage at front leads, then check voltage under car...

This point cant do much but wait...

In the meantime, are there known modules that go bad in these cars?

The reason this mess even started was because i was losing my batteries from a parasitic draw...

The dvd player is always looking for the disc, the phone is drawing some amps,,, but im pretty sure its a module, which module is the keyless entry on, because that hasnt worked in over a year... Some are saying its the general module, the center lock button also stopped working, this car has me confused this week...

2001 e53 108k ,

also thanks for the reply's on the starter guys.... just a mater of time before it replicates..

Shit just goes from bad to worse...

Figure out that the clicking and starter problem was the front battery charge post not making good contact, so the car was intermittently not getting enough juice...

After i replicated the problem with a no start/clicking, I bump started it backwards to get to shop where i was working on the car, its was little bit of a hard hit when i bump started it...

Heard a noise halfway to the shop, little screeching, the car wasn't responding to full throttle, figured the alternator belt was slipping or alt was seized, thus not providing enough juice for the car.....

Wasn't the case, car doesn't run, rough idle, then shuts off...

I get codes

P03000 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
p1345 (Misfire Cylinder 2 With Fuel Cut-off)
p1343 (Misfire cylinder 1 with fuel cut-off)

Maybe I threw the chain a gear or damage the chain, and if the chain is damaged, what parts should i replace if im going to do it...

Im having someone stop by tomorrow to look at the timing.
