Hi guys, after getting my 2002 x5 (4.6 is) one of the things ive been wanting to do is add my large subs and amp to the sound system. Now i thought, Ill just put a double din ebay type dvd player in it, Run some wires to the rear and add a reverse camera whilst im there, doesnt matter about the steering wheel controls as i dont tend to use them anyway. So, i got a facia plate and bmw to iso wiring adapter in a kit and proceded to start.....
After the first 5 mins ive hit a brick wall. On my model it seems to have completely different connectors at the rear of the head unit to most other bmw's of this age. So obviously the plug and play connector doesnt fit. Any ideas where i could find a new lead to fit this setup so i can replace the standard nav system with just a normal everyday cd player with aux? Bmw really do like to make things difficult dont they?.
Also i have tried the bmw aux cable which should be a straight plug into the harness at the rear of the head unit but again, my car doesnt have the cable in the loom for it. All i want is to play music through my phone into the car at this stage at a decent quality. The tv input jack at the rear of the armrest is just terrible for playing music through.
Hs anyone else had this problem or just me? Ive googled for hours trying to find solutions but its turning up nothing. Even wiring diagrams would be nice so i could perhaps solder in an iso lead in replacement of the nav system.
