Anybody use this? Any good? I was thinking about liqui moly 5-40 also.

Am I going to notice the difference?

My guesstimate is that hundreds of us use that oil brand/viz...
There are also literally hundreds of 'what oil to use' full threads here.

I use it in my X5, as well as the 911, and Merc. My friends use it as well in the German autos they have.
Walmart has the best price for the 5qt size

Motul guy here but used M1 on my previous BMW's with no problems...I still buy it for my Chevy (5w30) and I get it from Costco as I almost never go to Walmart.

Here's the thing. The later weight is the at op temp. So when you stop the engine and it's cooling down that high weight viscosity is also cooling down at a temp rate equal to engine temp. Higher temp weights adhere to valves and moving parts longer during cool down and can create added deposit adhesion to these parts. At least that's what a mechanic, race car builder, driver explained to me when I told him I wanted to change to higher viscosity rating because of higher mileage.

Hi - I used m1 for a while after doing an engine rebuild and noticed a lot more vanos noise at startup. During that time I read about others complaining about M1 being noisier.

Went back to Pennzoil Ultra 5W-40 European Full Synthetic and the noise went away (took several weeks, btw). It is a LL-01 oil. Pretty cheap at Amazon.
