Heated front seats E53 2005
Brought a X5 2005 which is suppose to have heated seats, the buttons are present in the front, but when pressed nothing happens no lights. I have checked the fuses and they are present and look OK according to the fuse layout diagram in the glove box. Other than that can anyone else point me to where else one would look to see if they are actually installed. I looked under the seat but apart from the electric motors I couldn't really tell what else to look for. The driver seat is memory as well. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks |

The colors under the seat are brown and green for heated seats, 1 thing you need to know is if there is no bus signal to the switch you get no power, normally if it's a wiring problem or other issue the green lights will turn on then off, so it sounds to me like you have a problem with your bus signal. Did you X5 originally come with heated seats ?

I've attached two images hopefully they are clear, I bought it from a private dealer who also swapped out the front dash control with working x5 to make sure it wasn't the switches same issue.
Ive plugged in PA Soft scanner as well but not sure where to look to see if there is anything seat heat related. |

Do you have answer to this question?
Go to BMW Model Archive · November 2014 · bmwarchive.org, put in the last 7-digit of the VIN to find out the options. EDIT: fix the website address

Bottom pic green and brown wires top toward right it's attached to that white plastic clip, has a connector toward the back of the seat for the back rest and ties into the yellow seat plug opposite end

From what I remeber its a red with yellow dots, idk about x5 but you can test with the same colored wire from radio, can you post a pic of the brown plug wires in back of the heated seat dsc switch cluster
