Red/ white with yellow dots wire, in the back of the radio there is a wire same colors run a jumper wire from radio to switch see if the switches work if they do its a "bus" or what ever it's called for bmw problem if not check your power "red blue" .. Do both switches not work ? And when you push the switch the green doesn't come on fast and turn off ?

I have a feeling that the heating mat itself is shorted. My drivers seat works until I sit on it, then it turns off and wont come back on again. The other side works fine. Haven't got round to sorting it yet though

Does the other side work ? Like I said, it's probably the heating mat itself. From the research I have done it seems that they short out and stop working. You will probably have to replace it.
