Favorite summer (street) tires?

Hey there X5'ers,

It's time to replace the tires on the factory 20" wheels on my 4.8is and I'm wondering what tires people like these days for the spring and summer.

I have a second set of 18" wheels and tires for the snow during the winter, so these can be dedicated, good weather tires.

A few years ago people seemed to really like the Toyo Proxes. What are some other sticky tires that folks are happy with?

Thanks in advance for your help

Vredestein Suv Sessanta, mine lasted about 15k miles.

current pricing is around $978 for staggered
275/40/zr20 & 315/35/ZR20

a new set will be installed in the spring

The Vred Sessanta has been replaced with the Ultrac Vorti.

Reviews show the Vorti exceeds the Sessanta in every way, Michelin Pilot SuperSport level tire.

I've had these on for a few months (255/285 19s), unreal wet/dry grip in warm temps.

Vred's website still shows the sessanta's being available. I they are a bit less expensive that the Vorti's

Summer compound really ain't gonna last more than 15k on average...
I had my Diamaris brand new in February...I put 18k miles since then...the rears need replacement, fronts can go another 2-3k...but at over 1500$ a set,you might be better off with all seasons (although there's no comparison to the way the car handles on summer tires)
I've heard good things about the new Vredesteins, but also good things about made in Cheena ones(400$ set)lol
It's up to your budget , really....
I might go with some Pirelli's when I change mine...

European Car mag stated the Vorti was replacing the S'santa after the Vredestein press release at the F1 Hungaroring.

I guess Vredestein changed their mind after that and continued production.

I considered the Pirelli P-Zero Rosso, tire tests I read said the tire is due for a redesign. Seems other maunfacturers have exceeded the performance/wear resistance of the Pirelli P-Zero in the the last several years.

Anyone tried these yet? Are RFT a waste of money?

Big money for the Conti SSR5s.

The Ultrac Vortis run around 1k for 255/285 19s, would bet 1.2k for staggered 20s fitment.

Check Group A Wheels in NJ.

I'm running Pirelli P Zero Rossos on my 4.4i Sport with 19s. I love them, very grippy in the bends, minimal road noise at speed, comfortable ride, and they perform very well in the rain. I am mainly comparing these to the Toyo Proxes ST II that my friend on his 4.8is. We both agree that the Toyos are entirely to loud and not grippy enough for the price.

P ZERO ROSSO

Get the delinte desert storm d8s.

They can be found for $580 shipped 275/315 set.

I run them on the rear and the ride/feel/grip is just like conti dws. Great in dry/rain/snow.

Ever since i posted about these a while back a few members also run them and couldnt be happier esp with price.

Terminatorx5 runs a set on his 4.8is, and my buddy w a 2013 50i also runs a whole set.
