DISA Valve Rebuild
Hey Guys,
So I got lucky today - real lucky. I was hearing a rattle coming from the DISA valve area and decided to take it off and have a look. It is completely falling apart. The top pin that holds in the flapper fell out on my hand and the bellcrank has eroded down to nothing. I also discovered that someone had used silicone instead of the proper o-ring to seal the valve to the engine. Guess I know now where that whistling sound was coming from ![]() So here is the issue. I am not sure of the condition of the bush that the bellcrank rides on in the body. Its metal of course but it looks to have wear and reveals a checkered look in certain areas of the bush. I am worried that this valve is beyond repair and I am going to have to source another one. They don't come cheap, even used ones on ebay but I guess with their routine failure nature, that's not surprising. Bernie Update: So I guess that the original seal for the DISA valve is some kind of imbedded o-ring. Guess it is not someones poor repair using silicone. Does anyone have the ID of the bushing for the bellcrank? Also, what are the odds that the rubber seal the bellcrank passes through is shot? Last edited by razorboy; 12-29-2014 at 07:01 PM. |
