Am i missing a piece? Rear wiper

So just got a new (to me...) X5 and the rear wiper was hanging down. I think the nut is just loose and needs to be tightened. Is there a cover that is supposed to go over it?

Ditto...and remember to leave model/model year/build date info so that we can help you better. Not every X5 is the same or use the same part numbers from 1999-2006 build dates.

For example...you can see if you click this link to the diagram and part number index for the rear wiper...you're missing #3...but there's a a change at the 5/2002 build date for this cover...so if you wanted to order one...we could be giving you incorrect information if your x5 was built before that date: RealOEM.com * BMW E53 X5 4.4i SINGLE PARTS FOR REAR WINDOW WIPER

BTW...if you look at the far right of item #3...you'll see a photo link that shows what it looks like.

Also...your rear wiper appears to be pointing in the wrong direction...from the image you posted..if the rear wiper was activated, instead of wiping the rear lift gate glass...you'd be wiping the lower tailgate section. You need to loosen that nut an readjust the blade so that in the "rest position"...it points toward the left.

Thank you. I went over to the dealership and its only $5 bucks for it so all is well. Picked up that piece, the little ring that goes around the door lock (drivers side was missing) and a new trim piece for the steering wheel. I was surprised the steering wheel trim was only $43 from the dealer as online it seemed to be more...

Qsilver
you are exactly right the wiper arm needs to be adjusted but I probably wont get to it for a few days...
