e53 X5 subwoofer box interest?

I want a box and have not found anyone currently making them but BSW but they won't sell it without buying their whole system.

I know a shop that makes BMW specific boxes and systems and they are willing to make me one but it will cost a fortune as a one off due to the odd shape. He said he will make a jig and prepare to make them in numbers if there is real interest.

Anybody interested?

Have you come across the stealthbox build that's floating around the site? It's relatively easy to build with simple tools, and fits right in the rear...much like the factory box.

I sent him that thread to show what I was talking about. I can't do anything like that myself. I can build computers, rebuild an engine, install a three amp multi speaker system etc but I can't paint or do carpentry.

I have tried over the years and know my limitations. Additionally, I'd spend more on the tools needed to do it than he will charge to make the box properly.

It is not like it is a simple square which might be doable, this is a complex odd shape needing some expertise.

You should have 5 boxes made and then sell them, might take you a while, but it's hard to get a commitment from people without any pictures/specs/pricing.

I am not asking for a commitment. I am asking if there would be interest.

I am not looking to go into the subwoofer box business so me commissioning several to be sitting on them is not productive.

If there is no interest I will pay the 400 or so it will cost to have one made. I'd guess if he can get more business out of the deal the price would be around 250 but that is a guess.

I probably misunderstood which subwoofer you are talking about, but the OE subwoofer that goes into the right pocket in the trunk area is about $240 with free shipping from the BMW of Fairfax. from my understanding, it inclludes the speakers...

part # 65138379378.

you will also need some hardware to attach it, 65106905660, 07119905720, and two of 16131183133.

that thing is already molded to fit in the space, and there should be mounting points on the body of the car as well...
