Final update on Spal fan electric conversion (clutch fan delete)

Here is the actual process:
http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...-part-2-a.html

To conclude, I've done this sort of PM as the clutch fan and map controlled thermostat were original (11 years / 96k miles) and the fact they can turn into problematic areas. Lower radiator hose was starting to leak at the sensor location as well.

The final 75 miles mixed city / highway road test (40-45 F ambient temp) produced following:

Once the car reaches 95 C (opening thermostat temp) as long as it's moving it's staying at 95-97 C. If the car sits idling for more than a minute, the temp will go up to 99 C and that point aux fan kicks in for a short of period of time.

The Spal fan is not coming at all since the radiator outlet temp has to reach 195 F (90 C) in order for sensor to send the on signal. I suspect in summer I'll reach that point and but I do want Spal to be sort of last line of defense and I don't want to be on for long as it draws quite a few amps.

I've reset the fuel consumption and it's identical as before (around 16mpg). Oil temp is at 80-85 C although it'll probably go up in summer as well.

As I said before, this setup has been on both of my E39's for almost 2 years now and it's performing flawlessly. Spal fan components are top notch and fan is made in Italy and carries 3 year warranty.

Pictures of engine bay all buttoned up and I've succeeded in retaining OEM look and Spal fan is all but invisible:
