wanting to replace the wood grain trim.

I want to replace my wood grain trim, cracking on some areas, saw some carbon fiber ones, looked good but have not seen a company out there that sells them, I do not know if that was a BMW option, just wanting to make the X5 look good again.....

Probably trims that were recovered by owner with carbon fiber film or they are after market trims. Only non wood trim that is OEM is the Black Piano trim which I have on my X.

I've been playing around with putting 3M 1080 Vinyl Wrap on my steering wheel trim, door pull trim and a few other parts. It's not as easy as it looks on Youtube, but if you take your time and practice a bit it's not bad. If you don't want metallic or CF, they have about a zillion other options too. I'm not a huge fan of the carbon fiber look, so I've been using the black brushed aluminum and I'm pretty happy with the results so far.

Pictures or it didn't happen.

My dream is to find a complete Imola Red Leather interior that I can afford, but in the meantime, covering my wood with red leather sounds just kinky enough.

+1 Give the pics!

One day I hope to find OEM E39 Black leather trim in Europe, funny how I've found every color BUT black.

Also in for pics... sounds very nice.

As for vinyl wrapping. The wife and did carbon fiber in our X and love it. Did as good a job as that guy who's asking $550+. It's not easy, but it's not hard either. Get yourself some film... it's like $30 for enough to do your trim a few times and see what you can do. As mentioned, it comes in a million different flavors... just make sure to get the "breathable" ones or whatever as they are higher end and are much better quality. The $10 ones are garbage.
