01 X5 3.0, Brake problems

Last week my brake light came one, the pedal is soft and ABS isn't working. Has anyone run into this?

Sounds scary. I haven't had this problem but my first thought is that you have a leak somewhere that is bad enough the reservoir ran dry and you have air in the lines.

If you post more info, you might get more suggestions. It's probably a slow day anyway...
Have you checked the brake fluid level?
Did you pull the code that it reported?
Any recent brake or suspension work?

Could be a rusted brake line.

Do the brakes feel more 'normal' at higher speeds? Really soft at low speeds but normal at higher speeds? If that's the case, look at your brake booster.

Brake light comes on for various reason including low brake fluid in the master cylinder, pads needs to be replaced, etc, etc, etc.

So have you checked the fluid level in the master brake cylinder, have you inspected the brake pads to determine if they need to be replaced?

The OM (Owners Manual) tells you the various lights on the panel and the reason why they are on.
