x5 cranking- but not start

have a 4.8is; new battery, alternator full tank of gas, oil changed recently and battery is for sure not drained.

When I turn the ignition the power comes on and the car cranks but engine does not start; it's almost like the engine is half started but not catching.

What solves this problem is letting the car crank on its own for about 10 seconds then it finally and sluggishly starts then purrs.

This is a once in a couple month issue- any ideas? Ignition switch or starter ?

Should be the ignition switch.
What helped me every time it was happening was pulling the Fuel Pump fuse. After that it always started right away.Replacing the ignition switch healed the problem.
