Looking for good E53 system overview info.

G'day all,
I've had a 2003 4.4 sport for a couple of years and it has been pretty reliable, however i'd like to educate myself more on the car's systems for future troubleshooting.
I see lots of posts on here with clear schematics and desciptions of various systems like IHKA and engine cooling etc. Which source do these pages come from?? They look quite factory quality.

Thanks

wpoll will become famous soon enough
I think they are from BMW factory training manuals - intended for the technical staff at dealerships. I've never seens a full set as such but a few members here seem to have a large collection of them (or parts of them).

I don't don't have anywhere near a full set (does anyone?) but am slowly building up a collection.

TIS

This is the most comprehensive compilation of the systems I have seen yet. You really have to study it to understand how to apply it, but everything you need to know is here.

Cool System overview

When I got my X5 it came with a copy of the Bentley manual. Get a copy if you don't have one already and read it cover to cover. This manual will cover 90% of all your questions. Another good source is the BMW Technical Informantion Source or TIS at: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/
