So whats the word on 4.8is Brakes?

I am starting to look at rotors and pads for my 4.8is. When doing my front air suspension, I noticed that I am about to trip that brake lining bulb. Yay.

So looking around on the web, I am not really surprised that there isn't much out there to replace these sewer caps.

What have you guys done? I am thinking factory rotors, but not really sure what pad. I want something that has at least same performance as the factory. Looking for a lot less dust. And not kill the rotors with some Axis ULT type of pad.

P.S. Please don't pollute the thread with cross drilled and slotted rotors. I know where the braking performance is, holes is not it.

Thanks all in advance.

The dust bro, the stupid vicious crazy amounts of dust. I can't stand it.

And you mean OE right?

For lower dust I use EBC red pads. I can't tell if there is any improvement or loss of performance.

I too am in the market for new pads and rotors (front and rear). I would like to also significant cut down on the amount of brake dust generate by the OE pads. I usually tend to buy OE parts but in this case I am willing to make an exception. Here is what I am think of getting:

Akebono Euro Ceramic Pads
Centric High Carbon Plain 125 Series Cyro-Treated Rotors

Any opinions?

Hawk HPS. I liked them on my E46. + the dust is silver so not as apparent.

Axxis Deluxe. Not the UHT or other Axxis compounds. May be available under the PBR or Repco name, same compound.

I used them on my E53, and on the 535. Bite and pedal feel were very similar to OE. Lasted much longer. No visible dust. Zeckhausen used to carry them but doesn't now. I see Brake Warehouse has them for the 4.8.

I would go with OE rotors.

Ok so the gist is I should stick with OE rotors but consider using something like the Hawk HPS or Axxis Deluxe pads. I'll spend some more time researching those pads. The only reason I did not execute on buying the Akebono Euro Ceramic Pads (which seems to have good ratings on other BMW forums) and the Centric rotors today was due to nervousness on my part with buying non OE stuff. I personally wanted to get the Centric rotors for the fact that it has a black coating on the center of the rotors as well as the fact that it was cryo treated which improves strength and rigidity.
