My third X5, New to me 02 X5 Sport 5MT
I saw this car for sale months ago on craigslist and tried to buy it, but the owner stopped talking to me completely, and as it turns out just let it sit for 9 months before posting it again last week. I still had his number so I contacted him and set up a time to look at it, and made a rediculously low offer. He countered with another rediculously low price so I jumped on it, and its mine now! I had been looking for a manual for a long time. It has sport package, 120k miles, New clutch installed by a BMW dealer 5k miles ago, new battery, and cooling system addressed within the past 10k miles. Im glad I held out for the right one, this one seems to be great for me!

Works like magic.

The axle backs use the same hangers, all you need to do is swap your flanges from the 3.0 portions (one will be slightly longer) and hack off the 4.8 flanges and weld the 3.0 ones on, and bolt back up.

Pretty easy swap and the tone is great, not too loud just OEM+

Thanks guys. I worked on it today. I replaced the headlight and adjusted the ebrake cables because they wouldn't hold the truck while on an incline, but now they do. I also had it up on my lift and found that the three bolts that hold the front driveshaft to the input shaft on the front diff are missing so right now it's just 2wd. I find this strange since the receipt shows that the Bmw dealer did the clutch less than 5000 miles ago, but whatever. I'll replace the bolts and move on.

Congrats, good buy, and patience is a virtue! Quick question - how do you adjust the parking brake to get more 'grab?' Mine seems a bit week, despite having only 25k miles since the last rear brake job ....
