Add Mid to Nav Vehicle After Aftermarket HU Install?

Can this be done? I don't mind making a harness... Was curious though, as it kind of bugs me to not be able to reset my mpg/time/date/etc.

Did a bunch of reading and most of the info I found was regarding moving the mid unit in non-nav install.

Also what is this "high" and "low" cluster I keep seeing in these types of threads? I'm guessing mine has "high" since it's a later model e53 w/ factory nav. Would that have coding implications when adding a mid unit, if it's even possible?

Thanks guys for any info.

Yeah, I read that... but all of those were done on an X5 that HAD a mid to begin with. Couldn't find any examples where they had nav (no mid) and added the mid after doing an aftermarket head unit install.

LOL, I'm guessing I'm not lucky enough for the mid to just plug into one (or both) of the plugs, white and blue, behind the factory nav unit.
