I have a 2001 E53 with the old style 4:3 satnav monitor unit. I do have the Mk3 Navigation Unit. I have purchased (via Ebay) a 16:9 widescreen monitor which works fine but doesn't fit into the dashboard.
The following article shows a "bodge" way to make it fit and refers to the official method using two brackets from BMW. It wrongly states that these brackets are unavailable. I have ordered two today £32.62 in VAT, which are coming from BMW Germany.
