New Member, hello!

Hi everyone,

I've been a member of Bimmerforums for ages and just decided to come over here for my E53 (their X forums are pretty quiet). I've owned my E53 for over a year now and love it. I've been tastefully customizing it a bit over time and enjoying it fully. I've owned 23 BMWs (not a misprint) and am very much an enthusiast. This is my first X5 but before it, I have owned two X3s.

I guess I'll share a bit about my car too. It's a 2001 3.0, Steptronic, Titanium Silver over Black Montana Leather. It has Activity Package, Sport Package, Climate Package, Premium Package and Towing Package.

Here is what I have done:

EXTERIOR

DeBadged the rear

Replaced the '3.0' fender badges with factory E70 'XDrive' badges

Powder Coated Red Brake Calipers

Titanium Silver 4.8is kidney grills

Chrome Exterior Door Handles

Chrome Tailgate trim (the strip where the roundel is)

Chrome Fog Light Bezels

LED Fog Light Bulbs

LED License Plate Lights

Crystal Red & Clear Taillights

Automatic Tailgate (opens fully when released)

INTERIOR

Removed the OEM Dark Poplar Wood & Replaced with Carbon Fiber

Replaced OEM Wood & Leather Sport Steering Wheel with OEM Carbon & Leather M-Sport Wheel

OEM Leather & Carbon Fiber Shift Knob

Chrome Gauge Rings

4.8is styled Silver Gauge Faces

Red Gauge Needles

OEM Aux Input Kit

All LED Interior Lighting

Silver Finish on Power Window Switch Bezels

Heated Rear Seats

Aluminum Pedals

Replaced OEM Sport Seats with Comfort Seats from a 4.8is

IN THE FUTURE

Bumpers and lighting from a facelift model (2004-2006)

Factory sliding trunk floor

2004+ Cargo Cover (requires changing of sliding mechanism too)

OEM Aluminum Running Boards

OEM 4.8is Body Kit

Thanks everyone! I'm very happy to be here, on such an active E53 Forum!!!!

Welcome to the forum! Glad to see you moved over to the "action". Some times it is more of a whine...

Wow, I'm not even a member more then an hour and I already hate you Stephen! A LeMans Blue 4.8is is my ultimate E53. GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!! I'll probably keep mine another year (maybe less) and get the 4.8is.

OK, I finally got around to snapping a couple of quick photos. I selected ones that show some of my customizations!

I actually only have photos of it from the day that I purchased it (over a year ago). Nothing really recent. I'll take some tomorrow and post them for y'all.
