E53 Navigation

Hi, my E53(2005 X5 4.4i) is not showing time and date plus nothing comes up on the menu button when pushed. Radio works fine and its settings are working,as well. GPS shows coordinates and a blank square screen that I guess should show the map is just that> "blank". I tried removing the DVD and placed it back, but still no change. I already talked to service rep at BMW here locally and they think it's not the HW, but something else. I talked to another guy who specializes on bimmers and told me that it might need an update on FW and maps. Anyone here has any idea or the same issue before that had it fixed?
It surely is good to get help from fellow bimmer owners. Thanks!

Sometimes theres weird issues, the other day my nav screen started opening and closing on its own for no apparent reason, even when i turned the car off.

Disconnect the battery, both terminals, touch the red and black cables together to reset everything, reconnect battery and see whats going on.

That took care of my issue.
