Headlights switch

Hello I have an 04 3.0i with factory halogen headlights, my friend had a 4.8 with factory xenon as I was wondering if both headlights are a direct swap???
I did some research but nothing said yes it is or no its not.
any info would be great!!

Pre-facelifts are a direct swap. Face-lifts are as well, as far as fitment goes, altho you may need to do some coding to your LCM becausf of adaptive headlights and all. Hopefully someone will confirm...

They will fit. The Light Control Module (LCM as mam4.6 mentions) in your car might need to be coded to have the Xenon fully functional.

Do you have the automatic head light switch on your dash? If not, you will need that as well...because the adaptive feature of the adaptive bi-xenon headlights only work when the switch is in "A" mode.

Have you looked at the wiring harness that runs to the headlights on both models? As other's mentioned...the opening in the bodywork allows for p-n-p fitment of the headlights...but you need to determine if the wiring harness and the correct dash switch is in place for the swap.

(see "adaptive" head light info from owners manual)

You would need to be sure the headlight wirings plug n play as well, yes the headlights will bolt up and if you swap ballasts, all bulbs etc it should work. The high beam and self level connection should be plug and play as well as turn signal but I'm not sure what the facelift connection is for the xenon ballast

You'll need to code the LCM to enable xenons I believe as well because the xenon bulbs pull less voltage and may give errors.

He has HID bulbs in there now.
what would the coding do?
make the bixenon move as the steering wheel mo
ves?
so if I swapped them out would the headlights/AES AND highbeam work?

Re-read Q's post. I can't confirm if the adaptive feature would work

Why not check Mike's car to see if the 4.8 has the same wiring plugs as your car?
