I'm pointing out the 4:10 diffs front and rear will work.

Not having different final drive ratios front and rear. That won't work.

Wheel speed sensors monitor for/aft and side/side.

THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE!!!!

I should have know the answer to this question just using logic but i didn't pause to think about it that there are two diffs to be concerned about lol

by the way i would love to buy the correct one and sell the one i have but there aren't many if any available in the whole US that are from the 4.8 or 4.6 (

You could check salvage yards. Some have a U pull it/carry it day for around $100.

My son and his friend pulled a like new leather seat set for his 200k mile Lexus, $100 out the gate!

So i decided to use BOTH the front and the rear diffs from the 2005 3.0L the 4.10 in my 4.8is

Will it work ok ? I am sure it will work but will my speedometer be off now? And my gas mileage is probably going to get worse now I am assuming...

What do you guys think

The speedo gets it signal from one of the rear wheel speed sensors. It will be correct after changing the diff. I've had old cars where the speedo reads off the transmission, but that is not what the X5 does.

The fuel mileage will probably be affected, but I suspect your driving style will matter more than the diff.

At least it's a 6 speed, that extra gear will help hwy MPG.

On the rear, you may need to use the output shafts and or CVs from the donor car, or replacements that match it. The output shafts can differ across engine/diff combinations on splined diameter and output bolt pattern.

Also, keep in mind 3.0i auto and manual trans outputs AND CVs are different, though the outputs physically seat in the other one's diff, the bolt patterns are off by ~4mm. So if you want to get new CVs or outputs, you need to make sure they bolt up.

Just research that. This can be difficult to ascertain, even with RealOEM.

+1 on researching part #s between the 3.0i & 4.8is on RealOEM.

Thats a very good point! I will double check before I bolt this up.
