What are other SUVs that match the e70 for the dollar?

New or pre-owned. I am trying to decide if owning an 8 yr old e70 with low miles with no warranty is worth the risk. But I cannot imagine driving anything else or going higher on my payment to get a vehicle under warranty.

Considered an '15 RDX, yes it's an appliance but drives nice for a lease pmt of $450 with no money down

New X5 too much $
Newer e70 with extended warranty, leaning towards this possibly, since it is hard to get an exclusionary extended warranty for my 8 year old X5.

NX200 too small
MDX ugly
Used MDX rather get a newer RDX
X3 XLine lease pmt is high, no decent loaded used ones around with 19" wheels
X1 too small
GLK too small
F30 Wagon - too low lol
A4/Allroad Wagon Audi reliability
Land/Range Rovers unreliable and too much to lease a new one

Boy once you are used to an e70 it's pretty hard to get out. LOL

Seeing all the issues an e70 can have here, and other forums, it is definitely high maintenance.

I can diy some stuff but don't have time due to work and family.

I saw a used car classified on CL boasting the E70 owner had $21k in repair reciepts!

Hmmm

I am not really a MB person... GLK was the only one I was considering... I guess I am too picky LOL

Thanks

Well I like my GL320 and also our X5 35D, I was not a BMW or MB guy till we bought one.

I love the huge fuel tank on the MB, airmatic is good, 7 speed transmission....maybe worth a look.

So you already got it based on your sig?! I would have passed knowing what I know and have been through now...I should of paid 10-12K more to get one under 2-3 yrs warranty vs. 8 mo's left on CPO. I have 2 young kids and do all maint/repairs on my E36/E90 but the E70 added a whole world more hurt in my pocket/time spent etc. Good luck though!

We first considered MB GLK/C. Their web site would not show me standard features, only multitudinous options packages. It was to pushy for me to tolerate.

We looked on to BMW and the X3, this while on the road coming home from Florida. We were in the process of deciding it too small when my wife noticed the CPO X5 that we bought almost sight unseen within the week.

No thinking about trading my E70...

Thanks for the reply, yes I have had my E70 for 2 years, and have had an expensive repair already... I have an e90 also just sold an e36 and like trying to diy whatever easy repairs I can. I have kids too lol, so limited time/money like you.

I am debating adding an extended warranty to my e70 I found over at m3post.com by wanted auto protect. But they are small but they try hard, but it's not perfect but most extended warranties have mixed reviews. I like the warranty I have on my e90 by GWC but it's much more expensive than wanted auto protect.

Right size matters LOL

Agreed GLK/X3 are really too small, my kids already kick the seat backs of my X5 and they do it in my e90, so it's really hard to find something like an e70 in this budget range.

The X5 does well for the room and performance, there really is nothing else like it. Maybe and MDX or Grand Cherokee, but neither have the verve of an X5.

Not sure also if I upgrade to a newer E70 3.5i or 3.5d if it will be worth it coming from a smooth growly 4.8i

Gotta love the BMW life!

What about a Cayenne/touareg/Q7? They are pretty nice and are as reliable as the BMW. Meaning maintenance hogs and things break as often.
