Continental ExtremeContact DW & DWS

Hi All,

Any thoughts on these tires? I had the run flats and my fav tire is no longer available in the USA ... VREDESTEIN-TIRE-ULTRAC-SUV-SESSANTA

I live in San Jose, so summer tire is fine but would like to get 20k miles out of them if possible.

Thanks,

It's an SUV tire (XL load rating).

I have them on my e53 (second set) and will switch to them on the e70 when its tires are done. I find them quieter and longer-lived than the Michelins which it is currently wearing, and less expensive up front. I do use the all-season aspect - in fact they have given me excellent traction in very deep (16") snow here. I get 15k-20k out of them, driving pretty aggressively on narrow, winding roads. I would expect 30k in city/highway driving with a gentler foot. I also change them before the wear bars are flush because I need good rain/wet traction most of the year. Without that, they would easily exceed 20k miles even in my driving style.

just got DW for the front of my wife's 4.8 sport package 20in.

they drive/handle nice but I don't push it too hard it's an SUV/family ride. but I corner much faster than any soccer mom/dad would.

I've been very happy with the VUVs.

Quiet, great wet grip (been over 100 mph on new pavement during heavy rain), hot lapped Sebring with 5 people in the E53, several runs to over 130 mph. Put them on over 6 months/10k miles ago, the shallow grooves are still visible. Should see 40k miles with the minimum tow/camber setting I run.

Hamann is running these on the new ///M5s & ///M6s they modify.

Thats the other thing, my rears have 40% left but alignment was slightly off and the fronts are done... changing just the fronts is not advised, right?

blue dragon will become famous soon enough
I ran the sessantas for a while, they were quiet, and great in the wet, but as they wore, they got really loud. I'm running my second set of Falken FK453s now, not as great in the wet, but a really quiet tire. I swapped out my last set when they got down to 4/32" which is my comfort zone for not hydroplaning.
