E70 Retrofit pre-lci Paddle Shifters

Hello guys,

My first post.

I searched the whole xoutpost and other forums trying to find a DIY to retrofit steering wheel with paddle shifters in E70 pre-lci, obviously making the Paddle Shifters work, but all threads ends with no answer.

After some search trougn google I found this video on Youtube, about a guy that clains to have a E70 pre-lci with working paddle.

I already check all other threads and none of them uses the same approach that guy from youtube uses.

What do you think guys?

Best regards

Without a DSG do paddles offer a particular benefit beyond desire fulfilled?

As I understand it, a capability of DSG control circuits is interrupting engine power for the few hundred milliseconds of a shift. Without that, I'd fear for the conventional transmission shifting under WOT.

The X5M has paddle shifters and does not have a DSG; it was the first M vehicle with an automatic transmission along with the X6M.

What‽ The e36 M3 had (unfortunately) an optional slush box nearly 20 years ago.

All bmws have the + and - mode in the shifter. This is no different except you do not have to take your hands off the wheel. As a manual driver I actually rather "manually" shift with my shifter though.
I do think it's a grass is always greener scenario for paddle shifters.

I'd rather be able to shift from the steering wheel in my e70 4.8 which would be nice. Hoping to see if this is true or not! Plus I'm going to need a new steering wheel at some point as my leather is starting to rot off a little.

Paddle shifters do have an innate cool factor, but manually shifting an auto is just cumbersome and clunky. I just let it work like it's supposed to unless there's some reason I need it in a specific gear (terrain, snow, etc.).
