Tailgate DRL replacement?

Hi guys,

The rear tailgate DRL on the E70 has gone and it needs replacing. However having gone through the manual and taking off the plastic plate I have no idea how to get to the bulb and replace it. There's no information in the manual on how to access it, it only shows the fog light replacement. Any advice would be appreciated and apologies if this has already been discussed, couldn't find a thread matching my title. Thanks

blue dragon will become famous soon enough
AFAIK, that is an LED and cannot be replaced. There is no bulb for that, you need to change the entire housing on the trunk door

I did fear it was that however at least on the bright side I now have a decent excuse to buy some LCI tails. Anybody know the most cost effective place to get them??

Take a look out on eBay. I had seen a few of them for sale there...

The light probably failed due to water leaking into the light through the old adhesive based seal, corroding the connections. Ask me how I know. You'll want to buy a new gasket seal while you're at it. Would be good to replace the seal on the right side as well.

I just ordered an AM one of these for the driver side. Hopefully it works and comes with a new gasket...

I just installed an aftermarket replacement on my driver side hatch. So far so good. It didn't come with a gasket, I had to purchase one separately.

$80 shipped compared to $160. Quality seems to be the same...
