When you remove the plastic pocket you may find a module or two.

Is there any good resource that could help me find out what is in the area of the fire? I will be taking it apart in a month or so and would like to know what is there beforehand.

You can use WDS wiring diagrams and component locations. What I do in cases like yours, is to remove everything modules and harness and start researching the modules by the labels.

I tend not to think 'there was a fire, what electrical modules got burned'
I think "what happened electrically, to start the fire - and how many other modules -maybe far from the fire -were damaged by this electrical issue?" I guess as a first step you look for burned stuff, but then there is another layer of possible issues.... |

Id be on the phone with my insurance company. Fire = Insurance claim. Give it to the dealer and let them deal with it.
