OK cool - I thought 330ZHP said his M didn't have option code 524.

Run your VIN through the VIN decoder just to be sure.

Mine is listed under standard equipment:

S524A Adaptives Kurvenlicht Adaptive Headlights

[edit: I just ran a 2011 X5M through the VIN decoder, and it DID have option code 524, so my apologies, I updated my original post! Sorry!]

Yes, as long as your car was built after 10/10, you could have used your old FRM3 and had it re-programmed (not coded, re-programmed). The new FRM3 you bought already has the programming in it and just needs to be coded. Two very different things

I am also going to hunt down an Autologic dealer as apparently the dealers programmer checks your VIN to see which options were installed from the factory and will NOT proceed if the option code is not there. Boooo!

Hey speaking of, so right now my drivers side halos work, passenger side does not, but low beams and turn signals work. Is that what you have?

Chris

As I mentioned Autologic is also using the OEM guidelines and parts catalogs. there is no imagination there

No one could explain why this was level of programming was required but the normal coding that they can do at the dealer was not sufficient to fix this issue.
Josh, you had the dealer code the FRM for LED headlights?

Chris
No, I was just replacing my FRM because it crashed while I was trying to code it for a few additional options. I believe battery voltage went too low during the actual writing process.

Prior to the replacement barely anything worked correctly or was in some sort of default operating mode. Then once it was replaced and coded by the dealer, most everything worked but the FRM still was not communicating with the dealer computer and power window operation was reversed left to right. They were puzzled.

They contacted some tech at BMW-NA, set up this special coding session, hooked up a laptop running some program and BMW-NA took over from there. Everything worked from that point and they could communicate with the FRM just fine.

Just mentioning it because one of your symptoms is similar. What it exactly means, I don't know and oddly enough, neither does BMW.

Well not exactly, I'm having different issues. My halos work just fine, but I have high beams on one side, not the other. The turn signals and running lights work on the side where I only have low beams. I do not have full functionality yet.

Tasteful work, looks like you're enjoying it. Do you feel the upgrade to the 22s inhibits the performance/handling compared to stock?

No, I believe that this setup actually helps the performance. The 22" BBS wheels are lighter than the stock wheels and the new tires are also lighter than the original runflats.... so there is less rotating mass to overcome while accelerating. Steering may be slightly heavier, but I like that too.

Check PM's

edit: also when you get to VIR come with 1/2 tank or less so you can mix / fill up with non-ethanol 100 oct on site. Cheap insurance for those long straights where you'll be leaning on the engine.

edit2: hell, when you go, holler at me. I might join ya. Prefer fall.
