Had some time to troubleshoot this weekend.

I was wrong about the previous setup, the USB, AUX, and bluetooth antenna plug in directly to the MULF2 in the rear of the car. I tested connectivity of each of the cables of the AUX plug to the back of the car and all work fine (bridged the cables on the back and tested continuity with a mini-din cable plugged in and a tester).

So the problem lies from the MULF onward. Software related? is there a way to restore the CIC to Factory defaults? could having the aux cable plugged in cause a short that has damaged the MULF?

going nuts here!!

This would mean that either there is a fault with the wiring to the USB hub or there is a fault with the USB hub.

Can anyone confirm if this is correct, how to test if the hub is at fault, if so, where exactly is the hub located?

Thanks again!

Mine doesn't work either, and I have not had a chance to tear into it. (Wife's car). She may have put some strain on the port with all her "accessories". I'll be interested in your findings

So it turns out the MULF2 HIGH module is toast according to the dealer. I am looking on the internet to see if I can find a 2nd hand replacement. now the question is, is it a straight swap or is there any coding involved??

Most of the posts I have found talk about upgrading, I just want to swap the broken part.

OK, so got not one but two MULF2HIGH from the internet and neither of them work...

The first one I got was not the exact part number but it is listed as directly swap on bmwoem. Plugged it in and i got voice control and AUX IN but no bluetooth, a message comed up on the dash "Please Wait..."

Thinking it had something to do with it not being the exact PN, got one that is, and I'm running into the exact same issue.

No one is able to tell me if theere is any coding involved. Apparently there must be, but dont know exactly what it is and if it can be done via DCAN cable.

From what I've read, LCI models have a gateway that allows communication with the MULF2HIGH with the DCAN cable...

Anyone got any ideas on what need to be done?

Yes coding is probably required. You need to write your FA/vehicle config to the new MULF you got. And then code the MULF to enable BT. I removed my mulf2hi from my E70 where it was for USB only (BT was on the TCU). I then installed the E70 MULF in my E90 where it is for BT and USB. In my case coding was required to enable BT as it was disabled in the previous install that had both a MULF and TCU.

IIRC this is the setting I coded in to the new MULF

Awesome! will give it a go. Quick question, can this be done via DCAN cable?

Thank you!

I think that should work. This is the simplest level of coding where you are basically changing values in a config file.

All I had to do was reset the MULF2HI module via ncsexper and the module started working, best thing is that the VIN hasnt changed, no coding necessary, which I´m glad cause I couldnt figure out how!
