Take a look on realoem.com

You punch in the last 7 digits of your VIN (which is the serial number of the car) and you can browse through the parts diagram.

I didn't know that's how that part is called... Thanks for teaching me something!!!

That is not broken, that is cut, as is mine. Mine is cut in precisely the same place, suggesting a post manufacture technical change.

That strap conducts around a rubber sound isolator for the muffler, right?

I do not understand the last comment. You mean does it go over a sound isolator ?? The answer is no. It just wraps around the exhaust rubber mounting. Why would they cut it ?? And then sell it as one piece ??

Just talked to the service and they said on how there is no manufacture technical change they they know about it therefore they do not cut them and it just simply needs to be replaced.

Mine is cut also, I already bought a replacement (generic ground braided wire) but hesitant to replace it. Can anybody confirm it was intentionally cut and for what reason?

I can evidence that it was intentionally cut by the square and even ends. If it was fatigued or corroded then the individual strands would have broken in random locations.

I was a submarine electrician and journeyman marine electrician with years of experience with grounding straps around sound mounts.

I have checked with the dealer he can't find the part number after I couldn't find it on real oem. What I did was make my own ground strap using a thick piece of copper wire, insulated.

I've looked carefully at RealOEM and have not found a muffler ground strap for the E70 diesel.

I did find the front sunroof drain pipe though!
